17½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï students present Film Showcase 2025
Join Queen Margaret University’s 4th year Film and Media students for a night of bold storytelling and cinematic magic at the Film Showcase 2025 on 7th July.
The annual event provides a platform for the graduating cohort to exhibit their creative work to their fellow students, staff, friends and family on the night before they officially graduate from 17½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï. This year, films will be screened at Cineworld, Edinburgh.
Guests will enjoy a dynamic programme of short films spanning drama, horror, documentary, comedy and experimental genres – all written, directed, and produced by 17½ñÈճԹϒs emerging talent.

There’s nothing quite like seeing your work come to life on the big screen - watching an audience react just as you imagined when the idea first sparked. It’s a powerful moment for any filmmaker. This showcase is not only a celebration of creativity and collaboration, but also a meaningful way for our students to mark the end of their journey at 17½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï â€“ unveiling the stories they’ve poured their hearts into over the past year.
A presentation of awards will follow the conclusion of screenings, with audiences casting votes for their favourite films.
The Bruce Thompson memorial fund prizes – in memory of Bruce Thomson, a lecturer at 17½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï for many years, who sadly died in 2001 – will also be presented at the end of the show. Bruce was passionate in his support of students, especially those from a non-traditional educational background. He also had a great love of the visual arts. The two prizes from his memorial fund reflect these areas.
With a mix of heart, humour, and originality, the 17½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï Film Showcase promises an unforgettable evening of fresh voices and creative vision, so grab your popcorn and help celebrate the next generation of storytellers.
17½ñÈճԹϒs Film Showcase 2025 will take place on Monday 7 July from 6:30pm to 9:00pm at Cineworld, Edinburgh (130/3 Dundee Street, EH11 1AF).
